Cave at Mesa Carmen. The paintings are well preserved. DStretch is hardly needed at this beautiful site.
Enhancement with colorspace YCbCr makes a striking image.
The CRGB enhancement helps clarify the grouping of figures. Note that like Cueva Pintada, Soledad, Boca San Julio and many other Great Mural sites, these figures are linked together.
Cueva El Muerto. This site is mentioned in Crosby where he remarks on the fish/mono to the right. Eve Ewing calls these transformation images. There are two here, the other is the tortise/mono on the left. Note that their hands touch.
CRGB brings out the details of the transformations and helps show the construction of the fish/mono. Crosby remarked that the change of identity in this figure was rare in Great Mural art.
Evan's Cave. Named after Arturo\'s son, its discoverer. Faded and difficult to make out.
Colorspace YDS shows that there are a mono, two fish and a tortise superimposed on the large deer. All are a slightly different shade of red than the deer. Often vertical fish and monos are superimposed on the horizontal body of an animal.
CRGB. With close inspection of the enhancements one can see a tortise and mono(?) superimposed above the deer and a mono superimposed below the first fish. Certainly this is not just a random placement of figures.
This site is called La Loma Cuevada by Crosby. This is the main panel. Eve has remarked that big deer facing left are very common at small sites in this area.
Enhancement with colorspace YDS brings out new figures.
This is a newer enhancement, LDS.
Another faded panel at Loma Cuevada.
YRE enhancement
Loma Cuevada again. Very faded, hard to tell what this is.
CRGB brings out a figure. A borrego?
I call this site Mesa Potrero. There are several caves with faint paintings near a trail that comes up from Loma Cuevada. Arturo heard about paintings up here from someone at Viscaino.
There are a couple exquisite little paintings on rocks in the walls here. This rock holds a beautiful rabbit with mono\'s superimposed. CRGB brings out that there is a large strange creature above the rock with a mono superimposed.
Another of the beautiful little paintings.
Colorspace YCbCR brings out a headress (?) that looks like a small tortise with a rectangle above its head. Last slide.
